Sunflower oil Labelling

It has been widely reported that the conflict in Ukraine is affecting a number of supply chains, including sunflower oil.

We are working closely with our suppliers to make sure customers continue to have cooking oils to choose from, including olive oil, vegetable oil and rapeseed oil.

In products where sunflower oil is a main ingredient, we will be substituting this with alternatives and making customers aware of these changes in store and online.

Are you changing the label to reflect this change?

In line with DEFRA and the FSA recommendations, we will be making customers aware of these changes in store and online.

Where will you be making customers aware of these changes?

We are updating our packaging as soon as possible and will display the information in store and online.

Is this change unsafe?

No. Customer safety is very important to us and we are in close contact with DEFRA and the FSA to ensure we comply with all safety guidelines. Any allergens will continue to be clearly labelled on the packaging.

Is this a permanent update to your ranges?

It's intended to be temporary. We are closely monitoring the situation.

When does this come into effect?

This will come into effect immediately.

Will there be a price increase?

We wouldn't want to speculate, but we continue to invest significantly in offering our customers the best possible value

Will this affect supply of our other oils?

Availability in some product categories may vary. We are working closely with our suppliers to make sure alternatives are available.

I have heard that some people claim to react to rapeseed oil?

We are in close contact with DEFRA and the FSA to ensure we comply to all safety guidelines. Any allergens continue to be clearly labelled on the packaging.

Will you add genetically modified oil?

We will not be adding genetically modified oil. None of our ranges use genetically modified oil.

Will you be using palm oil?

We may use palm oil as an alternative to sunflower oil in some of our products. We can reassure customers that all of our palm oil is sustainably sourced.

Does this affect the nutrition of the product?

We will be updating all our labelling to reflect any changes to product formulations, including the nutritional value, as soon as possible.

Why haven't you told customers about this change?

We are making customers aware of these changes in store and online. We are also updating the information on pack.

Why can't you tell me what you have replaced sunflower oil with in XX products?

We have a wide range of products which contain sunflower oil. Right now we're focused on adding additional information to products which contain sunflower oil as a main ingredient. Where a small amount is used we will do our best to update this information but in the meantime, our priority has to be safety and focusing on accurate labelling for products which contain allergens.
