Minimum Unit Pricing in Wales

Minimum Unit Pricing in Wales

On the 2nd of March 2020, the Welsh Government introduced minimum unit pricing (MUP) to all products across Beers, Wines & Spirits (BWS). The Government will apply a minimum price per alcohol unit, set at 50p. MUP is already operational in Scotland and research suggests it may help to discourage excessive drinking and reduce alcohol-related harm. As a result of this, we'll need to review 'alcohol by volume' (ABV) for each of our beers, wines and spirits and increase prices to be compliant with the law. If a product is already over the MUP threshold the price won't increase.
